Not surprising, although its a deep barrel to go through to start scraping up this particular piece of mouldy crap

PIRANHA remake: The Moviehole.net web site caught up with Josh Stolberg, co-writer of Dimension Films' PIRANHA, which has Alexandre Aja (HAUTE TENSION) slated to direct. "We wrote a spec script about, well, piranhas, and called it 'Killer Fish,' " he told the website, "We sent it to J Todd, who obviously put two and two together and snapped it up with an option. I knew the film would eventually get made, so even though we didn't see money up front, we knew it would come back to us in dividends later." (thanks to Bloody-Disgusting.com)
so then there's a good reason to remake it? I can never figure this out. if you remake a great movie, the argument is that there's no need to do it cuz the movie's already great. but if you remake a bad movie, then you're making a movie based on a proven failure.
