Not surprising, although its a deep barrel to go through to start scraping up this particular piece of mouldy crap

so then there's a good reason to remake it? I can never figure this out. if you remake a great movie, the argument is that there's no need to do it cuz the movie's already great. but if you remake a bad movie, then you're making a movie based on a proven failure.
