Rocky times on another remake, The Crow's director drops out of the project.
Quote:
THE CROW remake: Rumor swirled earlier last week with news that Mark Wahlberg was offered the leading role. Now, director Stephen Norrington (BLADE) told Mania.com that he has left the project. He cites that an actor (he implies it's not Wahlberg and really doesn't mind that choice of actor) got involved in the film and wanted a page one re-write of the script which Norrington and Nick Cave penned. Furthermore, the actor wanted to bring in a new writer altogether.
Norrington told the site, "As I had gotten involved explicitly as a writer-director my exit was inevitable. I was bummed. I had developed a genuinely authentic take that respected the source material while moving beyond it, and Nick Cave came in and added more depth. I think the fans would have been pleasantly surprised." (thanks to ShockTillYouDrop.com)
